Psychological Testing at Lillybrook

It is not an accident that at Lillybrook we are devoted to enriching the lives of those we serve while also developing further the human potential. As the owner, it is my goal to meet the needs of every client that comes to us. I am aware that we will not always be successful, but I promise we will always try.

Further, at Lillybrook, we believe in a collaborative approach to treatment. Within this approach, clients are viewed as partners in their treatment, and considered experts in their needs. Our hope is that we will always remain strengths based, client centered, and rooted in our belief in the dignity and self-worth of others in all interventions utilized in the treatment of mental health. Additionally, we believe in the collaboration between professionals in the context of case consultations as well as in sharing expertise. When putting this all together and committing to understanding the whole of the person, as well as fostering this collaborative approach, it was our belief that Lillybrook needed to make a change.

To assist us in meeting our goals, as well as to provide the most comprehensive and efficient treatment interventions, we have made the decision to add psychological assessments to the services we provide. Psychological assessments are a proven method for informing and developing a comprehensive treatment plan, further assisting the therapists at Lillybrook to provide you with the most efficient services possible.

Currently being offered at Lillybrook are personality assessments and diagnostic assessments (excluding ADHD and Autism) for our adult clients. In the future, as our testing department grows, we intend to have testing services available for our youth clients as well. There are many different purposes for testing, and many different tests that can be administered. In general, psychological testing is similar to medical tests (e.g., x-ray, MRI) and assist with providing a better understanding of what the individual needs are, both through diagnostic clarification and treatment recommendations. For further understanding of psychological testing you can review this information from the APA (https://www.apa.org/topics/psychological-testing-assessment#:~:text=The%20results%20of%20the%20tests,a%20diagnosis%20and%20guide%20treatment.).

We have hired Dr. LaTanya Carter, PhD, LP and could not be more excited to have her onboard. Dr. Carter is a psychologist with over 10 years of experience with administering and interpreting psychological assessments. She is a fellow Wolverine (Go Blue!), and she has a heart and passion for the work that she does. We are blessed to have her as part of our team.
